Association of youth organizations Nepal (AYON) organized an interaction program between youth leaders, youth organizations and Ministry of Youth and Sports on 12th June, within the premises of Ministry of Youth and Sports, Kamalpokhari. Around 40 youth participants, from AYON member organizations and other institutions were present for the visit and interaction program.
The objective of the program was to increase the access of youth organizations and youth to the Ministry and also inform/update them about youth ministry’s plans and programs concerning them.
The program commenced with a brief introduction of AYON given by Mr. Pradip Pariyar, president of AYON whereas Joint secretary of Ministry of Youth and Sports Mr. Surya P. Sharma, Mr. Kosh Raj Paneru and Mr. Antar B. Silwal gave some insight on Ministry, it’s works and functions to the participants. Followed by the visit of Ministry was the interaction program among the Ministry officials and the participants of the program. The aforementioned Joint Secretaries from the ministry were present in the interaction program as well where they quenched the queries and curiosities raised by the participants regarding Ministry’s accountability towards youth and programs, plans intended for youth.
The program proved to be a very fruitful one as it helped bridge the gap between Youth and Youth Ministry and established lines of communication between them.
It has been more than four years since the establishment of Ministry for Youth and Sports. In the meantime a long waited National Youth Policy has been endorsed. Hence AYON has made an attempt to shed some light regarding what Nepal government, and Ministry of Youth and Sports are doing in this regard.
